WHAT
WE DO AND ACHIEVE
-
Teach
music to close to 400 disadvantaged children

of the music learners receive individualised music tuition of
orchestral instruments

Others
receive music instruction in choirs and recorder groups

Employ
full time and part time music teachers

Annually
present a Youth Orchestral Experience for which all music learners
in the Eastern Cape can audition to play in a symphony orchestra or
a symphonic wind band
-
A
youth symphony orchestra ( Bloemendal Youth Orchestra), consisting
of disadvantaged learners only, rehearse weekly and present at least
three concerts annually in their communities

Every
one of the 3 schools and one church venue we use for tuition has
ensemble groups who play together to add to the learners joy in
music making
-
We
assist in finding bursaries for young adults who want to make music
a career and sponsor such individuals ourselves should we have
sufficient funding
-
Our
music learners and their families are assisted in attending concerts
of the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (ECPO) in the Feather
Market Concert Hall

We
train young individuals in music related activities such as stage
management & front of house duties
-
Opportunities
to mix socially with learners who share a mutual interest in music
and are from the full spectrum of the socio-economic and cultural
background of our diverse country are created

Improvement
of their skills and understanding of the instrument on which they
play are evident in our music learners
-
Extension
of their knowledge of and playing of the orchestral repertoire grows
annually
-
Exposure
to some of the best youth orchestra and band conductors as well as
music instrument facilitators in the country
-
Demonstrate
to their peers, parents and family their achievement and progress in
music making
-
One
professional musician and one music educator have been funded by the
project for their university studies
-
We
employ 3 full time and 4 part time music teachers
